Boston Red Sox win the American League East title.

September 28, 2007

The Red Sox beat the Minnesota Twins 5-2 at Fenway Park in the team’s last game of the regular season and win the title when the Yankees lose an hour later. Fans who waited inside Fenway Park until the Yankee game ended are thanked by Red Sox players, who return to the field and douse them with champagne. Relief pitcher Jonathan Papelbon celebrates by dancing an Irish jig to the Drop Murphy’s song “I’m Shipping Up to Boston.”
